Archive for September, 2009

After a launch earlier in the year that fell down at the last minute, Quest TV have regathered themselves and are trying again tomorrow, as part of the re-launch and re-tune of the Freeview channels/

They’ve sent me a few key facts for your enjoyment.

  • Quest is a new entertainment channel launching on 30th September on Freeview
  • Quest is on Freeview Channel 38
  • The channel will transmit daily from 10am – midnight
  • The programming will be a mix of quality drama, outdoor adventure series, documentary series and user-generated video clip shows

As part of the outreach programme, it looks like they have connected back with the bloggers who went to the first launch and offered them some more information, such as this promo for Rescue Me, a fun US drama created by and starring Denis Leary. Hope you enjoy it this time round

Cadbury’s continues in its quest to make entertaining content instead of just pure advertising. Their Glass and a Half Productions have now extended their range to produce this music single/video. The video is quirky, with enough smiley moments in it to compensate for the fact I personally don’t really like the song. The song is by Zingalo featuring Tinny (the link should open iTunes) and you can buy the track on iTunes today with all Cadbury profits going to the charity CARE, which does work in Ghana. This is all part of Cadbury’s commitment to Fair Trade cocoa

Ghana is the heart of Cadbury Dairy Milks Fairtrade Cocoa and so the track celebrates all things Ghanaian: its people, its rappers, its dancers, its cultural figures and, of course, its cocoa beans.

  • Harvard Business School professor Mikolaj Jan Piskorski: "To be successful, you need to shift your mindset from social media to social strategy…. But I don't see a lot of that yet. I see (businesses) saying, 'Let's talk to people on Twitter or let's have a Facebook page or let's advertise.' And these are good first steps but they are nowhere close to a social strategy."

This is why I work on strategy and not just campaigns. It's about long-term behaviour not short term advertising

Apologies as I seem to be going through a blogging crisis, so much so I’m not blogging anywhere. Which is strange given the large number of open tabs I have sitting across the various browsers and machines I have all ready to be written about.

I was going to kick start it again with my regular reviews of videos. However, with YouTube seemlingly now not letting me see worldwide lists and firmly only giving me a UK perspective plus the end of summer and what looks like a lack of videos out there, there’s nothing to talk about. So I’ll go back to thinking about writing about all the other stories I have ready to go and share this slide show with you. It’s not the tools you use but how you use them that matters

PS: I think the UK site needs more display advertising. At the moment it’s defaulting to 2 text ads – for Tampax and Mazda car scrappage deal. I’m wondering how I fit into both targets.
